Cliff House Amphitheater First in State With Wired High-Speed Internet Access at Every Seat

Ogunquit, MAINE – The Cliff House Resort & Spa opened Cliff Pavilion and a connector that links conference and dining facilities with resort amenities on Thursday, September 16th, 2004.

Cliff Pavilion features a state-of-the-art Amphitheater that is the first facility in Maine to provide wired high-speed Internet access at every seat. The Cliff House Resort & Spa offers more than 13,700 square feet of meeting and function space.

Also included in Cliff Pavilion is a new Guest Registration area. Opening in 2005, the Guest Registration area doubles the size of the current lobby and is appointed with floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the ocean.

“The Cliff House Resort & Spa is committed to bringing world class meeting opportunities to the Northeast and this Amphitheater propels the Resort into a premier conference category,” remarked Director of Sales & Marketing Michael J. Lynch.

The Amphitheater seats 150 and was designed with the meeting planner in mind. Two, 100" diagonal screens, full-sound reinforcement, and a touch screen control at the lectern power this IP video conference capable facility. Views from every vantage point are unobstructed due to tiered-style seating.

“The environment for learning at The Cliff House Amphitheater will be an A+,” remarked Dave Coffin, vice president of the presentation services division of Headlight Audio Visual, which installed the audio visual components.

The Amphitheater boasts the new Quattro Seating System, designed and installed by Hussey Seating Company. The Quattro Seating System enables conference attendees to connect laptops to the Internet or local network for presentations and training seminars. The seats feature a whisper-quiet seat return operation, are ergonomically designed for enhanced comfort and contain a T2 tablet arm for laptop use with the Quick Link power and data ports.

“The Cliff House is committed to the business client, providing a technology-rich venue that is well appointed and functionally proficient,” stated Ron Bilodeau, product manager of Hussey Seating Company.

The new 182-foot connector links all Conference and Dining facilities with amenities including the World Class Spa, Fitness Center, dining room and ballroom. Project Architect Judy Johnson of SMRT Architecture Engineering Planning preserved ocean views by building into the cliff. As a result, the connector blends seamlessly into the landscape and natural light floods the area thanks to shoulder-high porthole windows and a 216 square foot skylight.

Cimino Construction Company ensured all environmental issues were dealt with during each phase of construction including recycling job site materials for use in other capacities. For example, after removing ledge from Bald Head Cliff to make way for the connector, Cimino crushed and used it in parking areas.

Providing accessibility to those with disabilities is a fundamental construction component. The connector enables access to all buildings and the Amphitheater is appointed with ADA-compliant seating and sound amplification equipment. Additionally, both the Fitness Center and 75-foot indoor pool have ramp access.

The completion of Cliff Pavilion represents the most recent construction phase at The Cliff House Resort & Spa. In May of 2002 the Resort opened its oceanfront Spa and Fitness Center.

Located on 70 oceanfront acres in Maine, The Cliff House Resort & Spa offers premier guest services, a World Class Spa, Fitness Center, Dining and Conference facilities. Owned by the Weare Family since 1872, Resort information is located on the Web at cliffhousemaine.com or by calling (207) 361-1000.
