Welcome to Cliff House

Ahoy Friends of Cliff House,

As we look to Fall 2021, optimism is in the air for a fresh new season sprinkled with the desire to travel and reconnect with family and friends.

The cool pure air of coastal Maine awaits you atop Bald Head Cliff. Our team has meticulously prepared new and exciting offerings for your oceanfront summer adventures. From new menu launchings in our restaurants to specialized programming and recreation in the spa, pools, and within the 70 acres of the great outdoors. We are actively polishing the indoors and outdoors with care and thoughtfulness for a sparkling debut this season.

In 2021, we continue to immerse ourselves into art & culture, one of the many rich origins of the scenic seacoast of Maine. As a sponsor with our neighboring Ogunquit Museum of American Art, The Gallery at the Cliff House curated by the Van Ward Gallery of Ogunquit, June LaCombe’s outdoor sculpture garden, and other amazing local artists from photography to mixed media; our commitment to the arts continues to flourish. The Studio at Cliff House hosted by Ric Della Bernarda, our artist in residence, serves as an interactive element for our guests to dabble in a new talent or rekindle an old hobby with intriguing art classes and workshops. Private lessons or small group classes offer Plein Air oil on canvas on the resort grounds or in the privacy of The Studio. Find the artist within you to magnify the beauty which abounds.

Health and wellness are at the heart of a robust lifestyle and remains a priority for all of us. The Spa at Cliff House continues to offer the most talented therapists with new treatments to enhance your well-being from skincare, deep muscle relaxation to soulful experiences. Try one of our signature treatments, perhaps the Hydrafacial for age-defying qualities, or Lana Vogestad’s private YNDI Yoga classes. Enjoy indoor and outdoor therapies for individual or couple’s experiences.

Be sure to sign up to hit some balls off the North Point Driving Range with the Albus Golf EcoBioBall, 100% safe, biodegradable, non-toxic, and filled with fish food. Feed the fish while sharpening your swing, a must-do experience for the avid or beginner golfer. While on-site explore the new self-guided Discovery Center to uncover an abundance of activities, beaches, local bites, site sea-ing, recreation, and day trips whether at the resort or up the coast.

Chef Rick and the culinary team have mastered the 2020 trends of outdoor dining, take-away, and in-room experiences among their many talents. The Chefs will continue to cultivate their fresh produce and herbs within Tiller’s Row and support the local fisherman, farms, and dairies within the neighboring states for local flavor and the authentic Maine experience.

Finally, vaccinations to support stress-free travel are highly recommended to rejoin a host of activities. Cliff House will continue to magnify safety and health and conform to the local ordinances; however, as much in disguise as possible. Our team is tremendously excited to serve you again and bring back the smiles, giggles, and laughter that make Maine Summers so memorable. We honor our past and look to our future.

Our staff is ready to answer any questions and help curate an amazing summer experience. Thank you for your support this past year!

Fair Winds and Following Seas,

Nancy J. White, General Manager

Hydrafacial at The Spa

There is no doubt HydraFacial is becoming a liquid gold of facials and is one of the most popular in-office facial treatments right now. So what is a HydraFacial? It is a medical-grade Vortex technology four-step resurfacing treatment that includes cleansing, extracting, and hydrating the skin with serums that are infused into pores. The treatment starts with cleansing by removing the dead skin cells and excess sebum from the skin. Next, a mix of salicylic and glycolic acids are applied to the skin to break up any dirt and oil that’s clogging pores. Then, the HydraPeel Tip is used to essentially vacuum out blackheads, dirt, oil and impurities, while hydrating, plumping, and nourishing serums are simultaneously applied to the skin.

While Cliff House was being constructed during the late 1800’s, Ogunquit was captivating an eclectic array of artists drawn to its natural beauty and charm. Word spread about Ogunquit’s romantic scenery and the destination soon evolved as a summer respite for big city artists to express themselves on canvas and in theatre, transforming this beautiful place by the sea into “An Artist Colony”. Today, Cliff House has created The Gallery as its own “canvas” to highlight and pay homage to the talented artists which abound. Enjoy your journey through the passageway and immerse yourself in the art. Explore the Cliff House resort calendar to see our list of up-close and personal artist talks and new exhibits opening during your visit.

Cliff House Gallery and OMAA

Cliff House is honored to feature a signature entrance to The Gallery with art from the Ogunquit Museum of American Art. The museum is minutes from the Cliff House and can be enjoyed from May 1 through the fall. Cliff House is honored to showcase Henry Strater’s art at the signature entrance to The Gallery, on loan from Ogunquit Museum of American Art (OMAA). OMAA is closely tied to one of the earliest art colonies of the American modernist era. The museum honors founder Henry Strater’s vision to preserve and showcase American art by mounting innovative modern and contemporary exhibition programs from May through October. OMAA showcases modern and contemporary art with rotating exhibitions and a permanent collection of more than 3,000 works. The three-acre seaside sculpture garden and grounds offer space for contemplation. Plan a visit, just a short walk from Ogunquit's Perkins Cove museum, just minutes from Cliff House. OMAA is open, please visit their website for all updates.

Social Distancing protocols are required resort-wide, with helpful floor markings and signage throughout the resort. Many areas have been converted to one-way passageways to ensure clarity and eliminate any confusion. Public space, dining venues, The Spa, the Fitness Center, pools, hallway and elevator etiquette are marked for everyone’s safety. Protective face coverings will be required whenever contact of six feet or less is required or a glass shield is not accessible. Respect of these standards ia appreciated and expected of all guests. Most of our entrances and exits allow for social distancing, however, in the specific indoor corridors where six feet is not appropriate, facial protection will be required. Specific groupings of seats have been designated throughout the resort from comfy reading chairs to lounge chairs. Little flexibility in moving furniture is permitted during this time as one would expect to honor the thoughtful placement.

All guest rooms, public spaces and outlets are sanitized using UV light technology and certified fogging practices which circulate the air and kill bacteria/viruses. In addition, the quality of the air has been improved with HEPA and carbon filters. Of course, the outdoor, fresh salty air easily available from most vantage points provides solstice for air quality. Sanitation stations, door sensors, and foot pedals are located throughout the resort to optimize hygiene practices and touchless technology. In-room menus and collateral will be disposable or laminated for proper cleaning including wrapped remotes for either televisions and/or fireplaces. Needless to say, sanitation is paramount to maintaining the resort and has been elevated and heightened in all areas with new technology and additional staff to ensure safety throughout.

Upon arrival, all accommodations will be “Certified Sanitized” (deep cleaned) using certified products for cleaning along with UV technology. In addition, air purifiers with HEPA filters have been installed in all guestrooms to improve air quality and ensure sanitation at all times. In addition, all air conditioning filters have been upgraded to high Merv ratings to ensure further safety. In order to minimize traffic in your personal space, only you, as our guest will access your guestroom. Our staff will not enter a room until your departure. All housekeeping requests will be delivered and offered throughout the stay through text technology. Hand sanitizer will be available in all guestrooms. All laundry is washed at high temperatures following CDC guidance with CDC approved products.

Guests will arrive to the resort to be greeted by an ambassador in the Porte Cochere and asked to remain in vehicle until the reception is cleared for social distancing. Luggage will remain in car until after registration. After capturing the magnificent views of the Atlantic Ocean at reception, our staff will guide you to our registration area for touchless technology to ensure ease and comfort. The credit card information provided to reserve the experience will swiftly allow for a seamless check-in process. This is the first experience of many with glass countertop shields to further magnify and respect social distancing techniques and safety. Sanitized key cards are presented to complete the registration and guests are guided to the self-parking designated areas. Only a driver’s license/ID is required to validate the confirmed reservation. Valet and bell service are unavailable until further notice.

Some services will require reservations to ensure limited size groups and other services will be modified and available after July 1st based on state guidelines. A new outdoor spa terrace and relaxation lounge has been added to respect social distancing. Please contact the Spa for a list of services and amenities two weeks prior to your arrival. One can enjoy our 2 miles of walking and many acres of the great outdoors.
