Coastal Clay: Small Animal Sculptures Class | $50

A relaxed, beginner-friendly handbuilding experience inspired by the wildlife and quiet beauty of the Maine coast.

Guests are guided through creating a small clay sculpture, choosing from coastal animals such as harbor seals, puffins, seabirds, rabbits, or other local creatures. Along the way, they learn simple sculpting techniques for shaping form, creating expression, and capturing the character or "spirit" of an animal rather than aiming for perfection.

Join celebrated artist Carol Lake in the Studio. Carol's sculpture grows from decades of working closely with animals, giving her an intuitive sense of their anatomy, movement, and spirit. Her work blends lived experience, mythology, and ecological reverence, allowing animals to emerge through clay, bronze, and other materials as both intimate presences and timeless symbols. Through these pieces, she invites viewers to see animals not as distant subjects but as beings deeply intertwined with our shared world.

This class is designed for complete beginners through experienced makers. Pieces are left for drying + kiln firing and returned or shipped later once completed.
